The Sisters

We love all of the young sisters with whom we serve. They are so special to us. The sisters come in three waves beginning in March. They come directly from the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT and serve here for four months. Then they go to their other missionary assignment for 13 months. In their mission call letter they are told that they are assigned to the Arkansas Bentonville Mission (just an example), and that they will spend their first four months in the New York/Pennsylvania Mission. Some go to Bentonville mission, some are going to Philly, Nashville, St. Louis, Baton Rouge, Everett, Washington, and other places throughout the U.S.

They are our peers, and we treat them as such. We tell them that we aren’t their leaders, we are their fellow servants. So we counsel together how to handle the various scheduled buses and large groups.

They add so much energy to us. The first wave is leaving this week and it’s really hard to say goodbye to them. We love them so.

As of the end of last year we had more than 109,000 missionaries currently serving. It’s an impressive group. None are paid—all pay their way (or their families do).

Did I mention we love them so much?
